What is the Scholarship Project?
The Good News Bible Church partners with SIM Ghana to reach thousands of people who still live and die without hearing or understanding the gospel. But how can a church reach out when they lack strong leadership? Currently the Scholarship project has 13 young men waiting to attend school to better equip themselves for God’s call on their lives to be pastors. At present funds are insufficient to support those already in school. This is an urgent need.
Rev Edward came to Tumu in Ghana ten years ago intending to stay for two. Edward has a passion for reaching out to those of the majority faith with the gospel.
After many years of waiting, in 2012, he was given the opportunity through the Scholarship project to study for a degree. Four years later he successfully completed it.
His dissertation looked at the challenges faced by the churches in the Sissala region in reaching those who do not know about Jesus. Edward expected the greatest challenge to be the people of the majority religion of the area. But he was surprised to find, the greatest barrier to people hearing the gospel was the unattractive lifestyles of those in the church.
How the church in Ghana needs godly leadership to disciple and mentor godly men, women and children to live lives that honour God.
Pray for those waiting for funds to attend school. Pray that they will learn to trust in God for his perfect timing and serve him faithfully during this time.
Pray for those who have benefitted from scholarship and further training. Pray that they would disciple new leaders and invest in their lives through training and mentorship.
