Africa

In the century following its beginning in 1893, the mission movement started by SIM has spread across the African continent, helping to bring Christianity to hundreds of people groups in more than 30 African nations.

It has left in its wake dozens of church denominations whose members now number in the millions. Many mission sending groups and churches have been influenced and started by the ministry God has done through SIM.

Today SIM is honoured to serve alongside its partners in these nations. Whether working in medical outreach, children’s ministry, relief work, the arts, translation and literacy, education, or HIV and AIDS ministry, our guiding focus is always to partner with local churches where they exist, and to plant them where they do not. While local strategies vary, all of our ministry continues to respond to need, proclaim the gospel and equip the church, for the glory of God.

SIM also sends out African missionaries to cross-cultural fields within the continent and as far away as China. Our regional offices in West, East and Southern Africa recruit, train and send godly men and women to take the gospel still further.
