It is with some trepidation and much excitement that the Hepburn family have entered the final stages of preparations as they follow God’s call to serve in Namibia. With visas pending and bags needing to be packed, it is a time of anticipation and gratitude. Over several years, Iain and Mairi both felt increasingly led toward this opportunity to support theological training and serve the wider church. It is with real gratitude that they can look back and see the Lord’s guidance in bringing them to this point, where the calling slowly becomes a reality.
Iain is an Old Testament lecturer with a deep passion for biblical languages. He has taught in a variety of settings and is the author of two books in a series called 50 Hebrew Words. He has also had the privilege of supporting churches across a range of denominations, where the academic and the practical come together. In Namibia, he will be serving at the Namibian Evangelical Theological Seminary (NETS), helping to develop a Master’s programme and lecturing in Old Testament. All of this with the aim of equipping future church leaders with deep biblical understanding and confidence in Scripture.
After 27 years in teaching, Mairi has stepped down from her role to focus fully on this next stage. She will be homeschooling their children and is looking forward to supporting the work in whatever ways are needed, particularly through the use of her counselling training to care for and encourage others.
The family are thankful to have funding in place for their first two years and are trusting God to raise up additional regular supporters who will partner with them to make this a sustainable, long-term ministry.
Please pray:
- for visas to be granted in a timely manner;
- for a smooth and positive transition for our children;
- for wisdom, peace, and practical provision as we prepare to go;
- for the provision of additional regular financial supporters.
