SIM and the Least-Reached
It’s because of all this that an organisation like Serving In Mission exists. SIM’s purpose is to make disciples of Jesus in communities where he’s least known and over the next few years, we want to see an increase in the number of mission workers sent to these places.
SIM UK collaborates with other SIM offices and teams to hear where there’s a need for more workers and highlights these opportunities in our communications and at events.
In many least-reached contexts, mission workers need to be employed in a profession. In the workplace, opportunities for gospel witness open
up. A team member in Central Asia recently wrote, ‘A friend I used to work with in a government setting called me unexpectedly this week. He was very emotional, even shouting at first, as he asked, ‘Why do you believe in Jesus?’ We ended up talking for about two-and-a-half hours. I was able to read Scripture with him and share why I believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. I’m grateful for each open door and for your partnership in prayer.’
Sharing evangelistic materials and Bible teaching online and via radio is another effective way to spread the gospel in many languages, across large areas and in places where
travelling or living in remote places isn’t possible due to unrest and persecution.
Also, in countries where the church is established and where SIM’s been working for a long time, teams are pivoting to reach parts of the country or subcultures with no gospel witness, in partnership with local believers.
What About You?
Right now, small SIM teams in places where Christ is least known are praying for more workers to join them.
The Faithful Witness team in Central Asia recently wrote, ‘May the Lord of the harvest send forth more workers into these 200 unreached people groups — many of these nations have no known Christians. Pray that the gospel reaches the remote areas of the region.’
From the team in North Africa, ‘Pray for more workers to come to this region; those who have a passion for the unreached and are willing to serve in unconventional ministry roles.’

The Greatest Cause
There are many important causes in the world that are worthy of our efforts as Christians. We see many campaigns urging us to give, petition, or take action. Can I encourage and challenge you that there’s no cause today more important than the Great Commission and, in particular, the urgent need to make disciples where Christ is least known, so that churches can be planted and begin to reach the rest of their communities with the gospel. Hudson Taylor wrote that, ‘The Great Commission is not an option to be considered but a command to be obeyed.’
Today, as followers of Jesus, we’re sent to continue what the first disciples began in obedience to Jesus’ Great Commission and we’re deeply grateful for everyone who partners with us to make disciples of Jesus where he’s least known.
