The Zimbabwean rural girl experiences life which is significantly different from their male counter parts. There are structural inequalities embedded in the culture leaving young girls disadvantaged and vulnerable, with their needs often overlooked. Family resources, such as school funding or uniforms will often be prioritised to the male children. Whilst this culture is changing slowly, the effects can be devastating. Traditionally, female children are used to alleviate the family from the plight of drought or famine through arranged marriages, employment as a domestic worker or given over to an offended family as appeasement for angered spirits. This project seeks to use Gospel based approaches to empower vulnerable girls in Zimbabwe and provide for their basic needs. Your contribution will provide one Zimbabwean girl with a school uniform.
