We’re so thrilled you’re taking the next steps in serving overseas. SIM-Train is our training pathway which covers all your pre-departure training as you prepare for your assignment, both online e-learning courses, and residential in-person training. The specifics will depend on your length of placement, and we’ve tailored the requirements to ensure that we’re equipping you as well as possible to go.

Costs
The costs and requirements for attending are as follows:
Individuals | Couples | Children | |
<2 Months (online modules only) | £60 | £120 | n/a |
2-6 months (online modules and in-person weekend) | £300 | £550 | Under 5’s free £50 (5-12 years) £75 (12+ years) |
6+ months (online modules & in-person week) | £600 | £1100 | Under 5’s free £100 (5-12 years) £150 (12+ years) |
The cost will be included in your budget and charged to your support account when funds begin to come in. If you are unable to proceed to your placement for any reason, we will invoice you for the costs later and work with you on a repayment plan. Please don’t worry about this!
Families
We aim to run 3 in-person courses per year, and at least one of these will fall in a school holiday to make it possible for families with school-aged children to attend. During this course, we will offer a children’s training programme. This will help prepare your children for transition and life living overseas. If you have school-aged children, we’d encourage you to prioritise attending this wherever possible but recognise that the timings may not work.
In this case you’ll need to attend an alternative training week, and we’ll ask you to arrange your own childcare, this could be at home or could include bringing a friend or family member with you to the training week to help you (there would be extra costs to cover accommodation). Please note we do use a variety of venues and can’t guarantee what space will be available on-site for extra guests or for children to be entertained.
Unfortunately, we can’t offer childcare for babies/very young children, but are happy to discuss the possibility of them being in sessions if having a family member or friend attending with you isn’t an option. Our wish is for you to be able to make the most of the training available, and will be as flexible as we can to help find a solution that works well. Please chat to us as soon as soon as possible so we can work together on this.
