Megumi and Helen both serve as part of the SIM Malawi team. Coming from very different backgrounds (Megumi was born in Japan and Helen in Malawi), they were led very differently to mission. Helen felt God challenging her to get involved in action through media coverage of Africa as a continent with many serious needs. Megumi saw an opportunity to serve as he heard Malawi described as having many Christians, but not enough people to help them understand the Bible.
Helen has done many things over the years, from administration to nursery school and community health work, but now she serves the missionary team of SIM Malawi in the member care and health coordinator roles. Helen roles involve diverse responsibilities to ensure SIM Malawi members stay healthy and thrive as God’s people in their ministries.
Megumi has focused on teaching at a Bible school for many years, but recently he started exploring different ways to help a wider range of people engage with the Bible. Megumi’s responsibilities range from formal institutional teaching to producing study guides and more personal or small group-based discipleship.
