The vision of SIM in Central Asia is to see Jesus Christ’s name and His mercy shared where He is least known. By faith we see – new Central Asian disciples of Jesus who then make new disciples and Christ-centred churches among all ethnic groups.
Our work in Central Asia focusses around language learning, business opportunities and relief or development work.
For many communities in Central Asia, there is almost no church and has been little gospel witness for the last 150 years. We hope to see culturally relevant expressions of Christianity flourishing among the nations here.
Language and culture learning is crucial to build relationships in the communities, encourage local believers and existing churches and to ensure workers are equipped for long-term service in the region.
Business as mission
By establishing businesses, workers are seeking to strengthen the local economy, provide employment, build relationships and open up Christ-centred conversations. Workers will model integrity in business practices, encouraging local business people and entrepreneurs to bless their communities and pursue opportunities for discipleship with colleagues and employees.
Workers are needed for almost every area of business, including finance and accountancy, engineering and teaching.
Relief and development work
We work with socially excluded groups, such as the disabled, those addicted to substances, alcohol or gambling, the poor and the terminally-ill.
There are opportunities here for experienced social workers, teachers, physiotherapists, counsellors and financial advisors.
