Colegio Shalom is a Christian school started and operated by AIDIA (the Interdenominacional Association for the Holistic Development of the Apurimac). The goal of the school is to provide high quality education from a Christian world-view for the local children of Abancay. It provides pre-school through secondary education. Despite having this goal, the school has found it challenging to recruit Christian teachers and to train their educational staff in principles of Christian education. They are seeking a missionary to come alongside the school to train teachers in educational techniques from a Christian perspective. They would also be interested in having a person help with teaching English, art, and/or choir. Someone with a background in psychology who felt comfortable counseling adolescents would also be a benefit to the school. Missionaries serving at Shalom invest in the future of Abancay through guiding the school in sharing Christ’s love to children of all ages.
