Michelle Proctor

From an early age, Michelle wanted to become a nurse and through her church youth group and friends she became a Christian as a teenager. After completing her RN and children’s nurse training, she worked in London. At this point, Michelle wanted to use her nursing skills overseas and with encouragement from her church, All Souls Langham Place, she explored medical mission and eventually ended up in Zambia.

Michelle works at Mukinge Mission Hospital in rural North Western Zambia. The purpose of Mukinge Mission Hospital is to reflect the glory of God by following the pattern of spreading the Gospel established by the Lord Jesus, namely Teaching, Preaching, and Healing (Matthew 9:35). The hospital serves an area the the size of Wales and provides in and out patient care including medical, surgical, maternity and pediatric services.

Michelle first came to Mukinge in 1993 and over the years has had many roles. Currently, her time is split between hospital work and Member Care. In the hospital her first love is still paediatrics and caring for sick children, but she also works in the busy operating theatre helping with anaesthesia. Michelle’s other passion is her member care role which involves supporting the team and helping them thrive and grow as they work in a cross cultural setting in what is often a physically and emotionally exhausting ministry.
