Mark, Helen & Lois Azzopardi

Why we serve

Sent by Carrubbers Christian Centre, Edinburgh, Mark and Helen first felt called to the mission field as students. Mark was inspired by hearing from mission workers back on home assignment and Helen through a year abroad spent serving in Honduras.

After getting married and working for a few years (Mark as an electrical engineer and Helen as a primary school teacher) the Lord continued to lay this call on their hearts so they have strived to be faithfully obedient with each step; researching agencies and opportunities, applying to go with SIM and ended up in Ecuador!

The ministry we serve

Mark and Helen serve with SIM Ecuador in Loja one of the least reached areas of Ecuador located in the southern mountain region. They work alongside an established missionary team who’s vision is to partner with the local church to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in communities where He is least known.

Our roles

Mark and Helen work with a church in Loja city to develop leaders, teach discipleship and support disciple-making and church planting efforts in the rural towns and villages of the Loja province.

Please pray…

  • For disciple making and church planting efforts in the rural Loja province which aim to reach those with no access to the gospel through outreach, Bible teaching, and resourcing church planting movements.
  • For continued work in the urban areas of Loja city alongside the more established local church – particularly in the raising up of new mature leaders in the Lojano church who will faithfully disciple the next generation of local believers.
  • God has presented many opportunities in Loja, but we are in need of more committed mission workers to pursue them. Please pray for more workers to join us in this field!
